The Devil’s Trill
Devil’s Trifle – House dessert of Hotel Piran
The Devil’s Trifle cake was created under the inspiration of the homonymous composition by Giuseppe Tartini – a work renowned for its boldness, virtuosity, and tension. Like the music, the dessert is built on contrasts that ultimately merge into perfect harmony.
It is a dessert that goes beyond classic frameworks and tells a story – bold, sensual, and memorable.
The name hides a mischievous secret, while the flavor reveals it with the very first bite.
Three flavors, one perfect whole
In the cake, three powerful yet balanced accents intertwine:
72% dark chocolate – deep, rich, and intense
Red long chili – an elegant spicy note with a long-lasting finish
Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – a noble whiskey with a distinctive character
Each ingredient has its own role, and together they create the dessert’s signature, devilish mark.
Four layers of experience
The Devil’s Trifle is composed of four precisely balanced layers:
- Chocolate sponge cake
- Ganache with Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel whiskey
- Chocolate sponge cake
- Ganache with red long chili
The layers follow one another in a deliberate rhythm, gradually building the flavor – from rich chocolate to a warm spicy note in the finish.
Chef signature
The author of the dessert is chef Tadej Petrič, who, with a contemporary approach and a keen eye for detail, connects gastronomy with art. The Devil’s Trifle is his interpretation of music in a dessert – bold, complex, and memorable.
