Julija the Lynx
Julija the lynx came to Slovenia in 2021 from Slovakia as part of a project to reintroduce lynx to our forests. The rangers of Triglav National Park named her after the Julian Alps and Julius Kugy – a great explorer and admirer of Slovenia’s highest mountains.
Julija is a symbol of the preserved nature of Slovenia’s only national park and of the successful coexistence between humans and wilderness.

The Julian Alps, with their mighty peaks, deep valleys, and unspoiled forests, provide the perfect habitat for this mysterious and rare forest dweller.
