Caring for the environment is in our nature

Committed to sustainability & Growth

At Eurotas Hoteli d.o.o., we are dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality while taking care of our planet. As part of our environmental commitment, several of our hotels proudly hold the Green Key certification.

This prestigious eco-label highlights our commitment to sustainable practices and responsible tourism.

What is Green Key?

Green Key is an international eco-label awarded to hotels, guesthouses and other facilities that demonstrate a high level of environmental responsibility. This certification is more than a mark of prestige – it reflects our genuine efforts to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our operations. From energy and water conservation to waste management and eco-friendly amenities, Green Key sets strict standards that we proudly meet and exceed.

Our Green Key certified hotels

We currently have several hotels under the Green Key certification, each embodying our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint: Hotel Piran, Hotel Kranjska Gora, Hotel Evropa, Hotel Arena and Boutique Hotel Portorose.

At our certified hotels, we strive to operate responsibly and care for the environment. We have introduced several sustainable measures that contribute to a greener future:

  • Energy efficiency: We invest in energy-saving technologies, from LED lighting to highly efficient heating and cooling systems, significantly reducing energy consumption.
  • Water conservation: Our hotels use water-saving devices and practices that minimise water usage without compromising guest comfort.
  • Waste reduction: We follow strict waste management protocols, including recycling programmes and initiatives to reduce single-use plastics.
  • Eco-friendly amenities: We offer guests biodegradable toiletries and thoughtfully selected, locally sourced products that respect the environment and support sustainable values.
  • Sustainable practices: We support local communities and promote environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

Why Green Key matters

For us, Green Key is more than a certificate – it is a commitment to make a positive impact. By adhering to Green Key standards, we ensure our guests can enjoy high-quality stays while contributing to the preservation of our planet. The certification helps us to continually improve our environmental practices and gives guests the peace of mind that comes from knowing that their stay aligns with their values.

Looking ahead

Our sustainability journey continues, and we are constantly seeking new ways to enhance our environmental efforts. As our portfolio grows, we remain committed to obtaining Green Key certification for more of our hotels, reinforcing our dedication to responsible and sustainable tourism.

Your choice to stay with us drives positive change, and we’re excited to be a part of this global sustainability movement.

Together, we can make a difference!

EH – Hotel Piran, Hotel Arena Maribor and Hotel Kranjska Gora in the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism

For many years, Hotel Piran has supported the Morigenos association, which researches the sea and dolphins. Dolphin Foki has long been an EH adoptee and serves as an ambassador for raising awareness about the preservation of the marine ecosystem. At Hotel Piran, we further enhanced this commitment with a charming plush dolphin toy, helping to bring the message of environmental care closer to our youngest guests.

In Maribor, Hotel Arena collaborates with local associations, organizes clean-up campaigns, and encourages guests to actively explore the Pohorje region without a car. Hotel Kranjska Gora, meanwhile, works together with Triglav National Park to contribute to the protection of the unique Alpine environment.

All our hotels promote the use of sustainable means of transport – from electric charging stations to bike and Poni bike rentals – guiding guests to discover the local environment in ways that minimize their impact on nature. A special focus is placed on local cuisine: we highlight seasonal ingredients from regional producers, thereby strengthening the local economy and reducing our carbon footprint. Across all our hotels, we have replaced plastic key cards with wooden ones and maximized the reduction of plastic use in various areas.

For us, a sustainable approach does not only mean reducing negative impacts but also actively regenerating – giving back more than tourism takes. This includes supporting local projects and cultural initiatives, raising guest awareness, educating employees, and long-term planning that goes beyond short-term trends.

Slovenian Breakfast at Eurotas Hotels

Every morning we are delighted to welcome you with a rich Slovenian Breakfast – a selection of local delicacies that bring you the authentic flavours of our land and the warmth of Slovenian hospitality.

On the table you’ll find freshly baked bread, homemade butter, jams, high-quality honey, seasonal fruit, as well as yoghurts, cheeses and other dairy products of local origin. Among our suppliers are Beetoni and Žvikart honey, Podpečan cheese, Čuš yoghurt and cheeses, Lisjak olive oil, and Piran salt – just a few of the many who preserve the authenticity of our traditional flavours.

Our Slovenian Breakfast combines tradition, freshness and carefully chosen local ingredients – for a pleasant and wholesome start to your day.

At Eurotas Hotels, we wish you to begin your morning with a true feeling of home and a sincere smile.

Welcome to the Slovenian Breakfast!

Foki

The association has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning as an organization operating in the public interest in the field of nature conservation, and by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia as an organization operating in the public interest in the field of research.

Morigenos educates and raises public awareness about dolphin biology and the responsible management of the marine ecosystem, on which all humans depend. We are therefore especially proud to support the association in our joint efforts for a better tomorrow.

Dolphin Foki, an adult male often sighted in our sea, is an adoptee of Eurotas Hotels and a member of a dolphin pod carefully monitored by the Morigenos association. We invite you to also support Morigenos’s efforts and to join us in preserving the beauty of nature.

Traditional Earth Day Cleanup

Caring for the environment is part of our culture throughout the year, and on Earth Day we highlight this commitment with our traditional cleanup campaign! Together with colleagues and volunteers from Barbara Piran Beach Hotel, Boutique Hotel Portorose, Hotel Kranjska Gora, Hotel Arena Maribor, and Hotel Evropa Celje, we collect over 150 bags of waste every year.

With such initiatives, we aim to contribute to a cleaner environment and a friendlier place for our guests, community, and local wildlife.
